Born in 1988, Maia lives and works between French Catalonia and California.
Graduated from École des Gobelins in 2010, her artistic approach incorporates her own moving body into images where she creates an unfiltered dialogue with reality. With grace and humor, she evolves in front of the camera building a poetic visual universe through photography and video.
Winner of the HSBC Photography Prize in 2015, her photographs are regularly exhibited in France and internationally, and are part of prestigious collections such as those of the Musée Nicéphore Niépce, the Fondation de France, the Opéra national de Paris, and the McEvoy Foundation for the Arts, San Francisco. In 2018, she attended the Fresnoy, National Center for Contemporary Art in Lille. Her first monograph Rememories was published by Actes Sud in 2015, and her second book D'îles en Lune was published by ContreJour Editions in 2020. In 2024, her third book Fou Rire, Rêve Fou was published by Editions Octopus and is accompanied by an exhibition at the Havis Foundation Art Center in Rouen.
As an artistic director, she works on visual projects for clients in cultural institutions, sports, and luxury sectors (Louis Vuitton, Four Seasons, Institut Français, etc.). Her last commissioned project was inaugurated in July 2024, results of a 2 years work process for a hotel in Reims. From the lobby to the rooftop to the rooms, guests wander through her bespoke creations for various areas of the hotel.
She is currently preparing a solo exhibition at Galerie XII in Los Angeles for September 2025.
